How the service works
1. Who we are and what we do
The London Roofer (thelondonroofer.com) is a free quote-matching service for homeowners in Greater London. When you send a quote request, we pass your details to up to three roofing companies in our network who cover your area and do that type of work. They contact you directly to inspect and quote.
We are not a roofing contractor, builder or tradesperson. We do not carry out, supervise, price or guarantee any roofing work. Any contract for work is between you and the roofer you choose to hire.
2. For homeowners
Free and no obligation
You will never be charged by us for using the service. You are under no obligation to accept any quote or hire any roofer we introduce.
What we can and can't promise
We will try to match your request with up to three roofers, but we can't guarantee that any roofer will be available, will contact you, or will quote. Availability depends on the roofers in our network at the time and the type of job. Response times mentioned on the site are typical, not guaranteed.
Vetting
Before a roofer joins our network we ask for evidence of public liability insurance and check their trading history and recent reviews. This is a reasonable check, not a guarantee. Insurance can lapse and standards can change. You should still ask any roofer for their current insurance certificate, a written quote, and references before agreeing to work.
Quotes, prices and workmanship
All quotes, prices, timescales and guarantees come from the roofer, not from us. Cost ranges shown on our site are indicative only, based on typical London prices, and are not a quote. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, timing or cost of any work carried out, or for any dispute between you and a roofer. If something goes wrong with a job, your recourse is with the roofer under your contract with them and under UK consumer law.
Your details
By sending a quote request you confirm the details are accurate and that you are the homeowner or are authorised to arrange the work. How we handle your data is set out in our privacy policy.
3. For roofing companies
These terms apply if you receive enquiries from us.
- Pay per enquiry. You pay an agreed fee for each enquiry we send you. There is no monthly fee and no minimum. Fees are agreed in writing (email is fine) before we send anything.
- Credits. If an enquiry has a wrong number, is a duplicate, is outside the boroughs you told us you cover, or is clearly not a genuine roofing job, tell us within 3 working days and we'll credit it. Enquiries where the homeowner simply chooses another roofer, or doesn't answer, are not credited.
- Use of details. Homeowner details are provided only so you can contact them about the job described. You must not add them to marketing lists, sell or share them, or contact them about anything else. This is a condition of UK GDPR as well as of these terms.
- Insurance and conduct. You must hold valid public liability insurance while receiving enquiries and tell us if it lapses. You must quote in writing before starting work. Repeated complaints from homeowners will result in removal from the network.
- Independence. You are an independent business. Nothing here creates an employment, partnership or agency relationship. You must not describe yourself as The London Roofer or imply that we carry out or guarantee your work.
- Exclusivity. Unless agreed otherwise, an enquiry may be sent to up to three roofers. We will tell you the number when we agree fees.
- Ending. Either side can stop at any time by email. Fees for enquiries already sent remain payable.
4. Limitation of liability
We provide the service with reasonable care but on an "as is" basis. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from work carried out by a roofer, from a roofer's failure to attend or quote, from inaccurate information supplied by a homeowner or roofer, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't be limited under UK law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
5. The website
You may use the site for its intended purpose. You must not scrape it, submit false requests, or interfere with it. We may change or withdraw the site at any time. Content on the site is ours and may not be copied without permission.
6. Complaints
If you have a problem with a roofer we introduced, tell us at info@thelondonroofer.com. We can't resolve the dispute for you, but we take complaints into account when deciding who stays in the network, and we'll tell you the outcome.
7. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
